July 2016 News

We’ve all had had a very busy month since our last Monkey News was issued. June and July saw a lot of new team members join the nursery, all coming with an extensive amount of knowledge and experience. From Level 2 childcare to Teacher Assistant qualifications, we now have the highest qualified team that we have ever had. To further enhance our team’s knowledge, we have all been completing a number of training sessions on Safeguarding, Prevent Duty, British Values, Display Boards, Key Person System, Teaching Strategies, Daily activities, EyLog & Observations, Assessments &, Planning, First Aid.

Our Babies and Teenies have been enjoying the warm weather and have been keeping cool by splashing in water trays and paddling pools, exploring ice and making fruit smoothies. This month we have been exploring farms, making tracks in paint, playing with hay and soil, cornflakes, using different materials to make animal pictures.
to our holidays.

Our Toddlers have certainly been enjoying the heat wave too and we’ve been taking advantage of the lovely weather by playing outside in our fab garden. This month we focused on Summer and holidays to include holiday fun and activities, foods from different countries and lots of exciting ideas around what we do when we visit new places. We created a lovely Beach Board and a Travel Board in the room with lots of photos from everyone’s holidays.

In Pre-school we set up up a Travel Agents in the role play area. We all collected magazines and leaflets from home talked about different countries, languages and cultures. We practiced saying ‘hello’ in different languages: French, Urdu, Vietnamese, Romanian, Dutch, Spanish and other lovely lingo.

We also have a wonderful new addition to the Pre-School Room, a fantastic DIGITAL TABLE. It is the next generation of table for the Early Years Foundation Stage and has a fantastic feature of multi-touch capability and software, a high-spec PC and operating system.

The software mirrors the EYFS and the table is set-up to allow the children to lead the learning in complete safety. There are lots of comprehensive multi-touch applications which extends the educational opportunities across key areas of numeracy, literacy, creativity, science and the world we live in.

Congratulations to our top Messy Monkey Zachary for his fantastic painting of the Olympic Rings… just in time for Rio!
