Iranian New Year on the 21st March
Iran is an Islamic Republic on the Persian Gulf with historical sites dating to the Persian Empire. Extensive marble ruins mark Persepolis, the empire’s capital founded by Darius I in the 6th century B.C.
We will be cooking some traditional dishes for their new year and this is what we have chosen…

Khoresh is an Iranian form of stew, which is usually accompanied by a plate of white rice. A khoresh typically consists of herbs, fruits, and meat pieces, flavored with tomato paste, saffron, and pomegranate juice.

EXTRA-CURRICULAR

Monkey Movers: Next week we will be doing some street dance moves and getting used to moving our arms and legs altogether…
Hola Amigos: This week in Spanish we will be looking at and learning about animals and their sounds.
Theatre Bugs: Next week we will be learning about bones in our body… ankle bone, knuckles and elbows.
Yoga:We will be practising our animal yoga poses, Monkey, Giraffe, Flamingo and Dog!

Pre-School…

We have got a busy week doing Shamrock pepper printing, creating a very unique rainbow picture with our handprints and designing a Leprechaun mask…

BABIES…

This week we will be creating all things green… Playdough, cornflour and creating our very own St. Patrick’s Day hats..

TODDLERS…

This week we will be doing lots of exciting activities….Shamrock marshmallow stamping, Mosaic Shamrocks, making our own green slime and learning a NEW Leprechaun song…

We had a great day on Monday learning lots of different things, Resolving conflict and Behaviour Management, Activity Training and Outdoor Planning.

FRIDAY 17TH MARCH… HAPPY ST. PATRICK’S DAY

On Friday we will be cooking a traditional Irish stew which is very hearty and filling, with ingredients like potatoes, onions, carrots and meat served with Colcannon – sounds delicious!

Amanda will be making some shortbread cookies and green icing…YUM!

March is named after Mars, the Roman ‘God Of War’, as it was the month in which the military campaigning season got under way after winter. Also…In Old English one name for the month of March was “Hlyda” meaning “loud” possibly because of the roaring March winds…

We had a fantastic week learning and reading some lovely stories, dressing up as our favourite book character and finishing off the week with a well deserved pyjama day with warm milk and cookies!

HAPPY ST PATRICK’S DAY

Every year on 17th March, the Irish and the Irish-at-heart across the globe observe St. Patrick’s Day. What began as a religious feast day for the patron saint of Ireland has become an international festival celebrating Irish culture with parades, dancing, special foods and a whole lot of green.

We will be cooking a traditional Irish stew which is very hearty and filling, with ingredients like potatoes, onions, carrots and meat served with Colcannon – sounds delicious!

BABIES…

We will be making lots and lots of noise this week with instruments, toys, pots and pans and anything we can get our little fingers on…lol! We are going to be listening to what sounds cars, trucks and trains make – Beep Beep!

TODDLERS…

This week we will be looking at all words that rhyme and creating our own rhyming sentences. We will still be reading our ‘Bear on the Chair’ book. Why not teach your little one a cute rhyming sentence to tell their teacher?
